Longest run today, I was thinking about everything.

Today was the longest run of the training program. I just finished. I run by myself but I think about a lot of things. I think about Grumpy. I think about my mom. I think about asteroids. I think about the running buddies my dad has. I think about the Chicago Marathon. I think about Parkinson’s Disease. I think about getting attacked by a mountain lion. I think about work. I think about geology. I think about this blog. I think about the Bears. I think about food. I think about water. I think about the moon and I think about the sun. I think about the in-laws and I think about the out-laws. I think about my nephews and I think about my nieces. I think about my brothers and I think about my sisters. I think about the stars. I think about the clouds. I think about my cousins and I think about my aunts and uncles. I think about my cousin Margie and her recent surgery. I think about how much she looks like her mother. I think about the Flatirons. I think about swimming. I think about my own son and I think about how much I love him. Most of all, I think about my beautiful wife and all that she does for me.

With all this thinking, I never think about putting one foot in front of the other. My Fitbit says I did it 36,765 times this morning. I just get to think about everything that really matters to me and hope I don’t fall flat on my face.

The Flatirons as the sun comes up today. Favorite song: My Way performed by Frank Sinatra (last song of the run).
